Halethorpe MARC Station Improvement
Construction of a new station at MARC Halethorpe, Maryland is nearly complete. The project includes: two (2) seven-hundred (700) foot long high-level station platforms; two (2) stair and elevator towers with full architectural, mechanical, and electrical support amenities; one (1) pedestrian bridge over the existing Amtrak tracks connecting the stair and elevator towers; water, sanitary, electrical and communication lines; one (1) Kiss-and- Ride facility along Potomac Avenue with accessible sidewalk/ramp connecting with the northbound platform; and miscellaneous civil/site work including parking lot paving, drainage, storm water management, signing, pavement markings, landscaping and other aesthetic improvements. To facilitate construction of this station, Amtrak reconfigured the overhead electric power system, relocated a signal control cabinet, and raising its signal power supply cable.
The contractor has completed all major systems thus allowing the new facility to be opened to the public on August 12, 2013.
